DENVER ART MUSEUM HAMILTON BUILDING
Matthew Barney will introduce a body of work that is currently in progress in his studio, and discuss its development over the past year. Following a growing interest in metallurgy that developed during the making of his last film River of Fundament, Barney began working on a group of electroplated metal drawings in the context of a new film project. Beginning with a traditional engraving technique on copper plate, he created a series of narrative drawings, and then subjected them to a series of transformations to render them increasingly abstract.
